Welcome to Colorado Aging in Place Promoting Independence in the Home, Education, Information, and Resources for Seniors
What is "Aging in Place?" The term "aging in place" refers to continuing to live where you have lived for many years, or to living in a non-healthcare environment, and using products, services, and conveniences to allow or enable you to not have to move as circumstances change.
The Colorado Aging in Place Coalition has been active since 2004. The National Aging in Place movement aims to highlight the need for consumer education about home modification and other strategies that promote successful aging in place. Many local events offer a variety of activities and education to inform the public about aging in place issues such as:
- Independent Living Strategists who advise adults on strategies for improving home accessibility, comfort, and safety
- Architects
- Remodelers/builders
- Reverse Mortgage Lenders that provide financial assistance for seniors to pay for extensive home modifications
- In-home care or other support services
- Elder Law Attorneys
- Occupational Therapists
- Geriatric Care Managers
- Home Health Care Providers
- Volunteer Assistance and Opportunities
- Other senior services that are available in the greater Denver area.
Aging in Place was created by the National Advisory Council for AIP (NACIP), in partnership with the National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association (NRMLA), and the National Homebuilders Association. Activities are currently being organized in over 30 cities nationwide.
